Australia’s first National Hydrogen Infrastructure Assessment released
The Australian Government has released Australia’s first assessment of infrastructure requirements for hydrogen through to 2050.
Global built environment consultants Arup were appointed by the Australian Department of Science, Industry, Energy and Resources to deliver the inaugural National Hydrogen Infrastructure Assessment (NHIA), a key recommendation in the roll-out of Australia’s National Hydrogen Strategy.
The NHIA was initiated to determine the gaps and opportunities in the hydrogen supply chain, to look at electricity, gas and water networks, refuelling stations, roads, rail and ports connectivity, environmental issues and social value.
The resultant NHIA is informed by rigorous consultation with government and industry stakeholders and aims to support targeted and coordinated infrastructure investment, through identifying infrastructure needs and gaps; and where investments could be best prioritised to achieve maximum impact.
