Industry leaders and innovators are set to gather in Muswellbrook for the conclusion of the Hunter Innovation Festival’s roadshow. To be held on October 25, the free event, Harnessing the Power of Innovation: New Energy Project Opportunities, is aimed at fostering local innovation.

The event promises an invaluable opportunity for small businesses and industry figures to engage with energy experts and explore ways to capitalise on the increasing investment in energy projects across the Hunter. Attendees can expect insightful discussions on the future of energy, how to access funding, and practical strategies for thriving in this rapidly evolving sector.

The panel will feature a range of expert voices, including Clare Sykes and Boris Novak, Co-Chairs of NewH2, who will discuss the growing role of hydrogen in the region's energy future. “This event offers a premier opportunity for industry leaders to discuss the pathways for innovation,” Novak said this week.

The panel will also include Prof Peter Lewis, founder of Hunter Biological Solutions, and Brett Thomas, Director and COO of The Melt, a Newcastle-based innovation hub. Rob Copper, Senior Manager of Stakeholder Engagement at AGL Energy, will offer insights into renewable projects linked to AGL’s Hunter Energy Hub.

Moderating the panel will be Claire Quigley from LaunchPad9, while Shaelee Welchman, Director of Community and Economy for Muswellbrook Shire, will emcee the event. Attendees will also hear from The Hon Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade and Assistant Minister for a Future Made in Australia, who will deliver a keynote address focused on the region’s potential in energy innovation.

Light refreshments will be provided, offering attendees a relaxed environment to network with peers and industry pioneers.

The event is organised in collaboration with Muswellbrook Shire Council and partners, including Ungooroo, Boomerang Labs, The Business Centre, The Melt, and the Net Zero Economy Agency (NZEA).
