Hiringa Energy to hosts sessions for business and community on opportunities at GEGHA Project in Moree
Hiringa Energy is inviting businesses and community members to attend information sessions in Moree regarding its Good Earth Green Hydrogen and Ammonia (GEGHA) project, aimed at delivering green fertiliser and renewable fuel for the agricultural sector.
Hiringa Energy is reaching out to regional businesses from the Hunter Valley to Moree and up to the Queensland border interested in opportunities in the Good Earth Green Hydrogen and Ammonia (GEGHA) project, which is set to begin construction in mid-2025.
Set to be developed in New South Wales’ Gwydir Valley, GEGHA will produce green hydrogen and ammonia to support sustainable farming and transport operations.
Through two information sessions scheduled for November in Moree, the project team aims to connect with businesses keen to learn about potential roles in the facility's construction and ongoing maintenance.
Funded partly by the NSW Government, GEGHA is a joint project of Hiringa and Sundown Pastoral Company. Construction is slated to start in mid-2025, with operations expected in 2026.
Once completed, the facility will generate 15 MW of green hydrogen through solar-powered electrolysis, producing hydrogen for on-farm energy use and as a renewable fuel alternative to diesel for heavy vehicles. In addition, a 16-tonne-per-day ammonia plant will convert some of the hydrogen into green ammonia, providing local farmers with a lower-carbon fertiliser option.
In time, Hiringa’s plan includes expanding beyond GEGHA’s initial footprint. Following GEGHA, two larger-scale facilities are planned for the Moree Special Activation Precinct (SAP) and the Riverina region in southern NSW.
The sessions in Moree next month will allow Hiringa’s team to discuss the GEGHA project and explore contract opportunities for suppliers and service providers in construction and maintenance:
