Hydrogen training initiative seeks industry experts for Advisory Group
AUSMASA are developing training products to equip Australia’s automotive workforce with the skills needed to safely manage hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (H2-FCEVs)
The Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) is inviting industry professionals to join a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for a project to develop training products for hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (H2-FCEVs). This initiative aims to ensure workers have the skills needed to safely handle and maintain H2-FCEV components.
AUSMASA is one of ten Jobs and Skills Councils funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. These councils work with employers, unions, and government to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training system meets the evolving needs of industries and workers.
The H2-FCEVs project focuses on updating the AUR Automotive Retail, Service, and Repair Training Package, with consultations to determine whether the new training products will be incorporated into existing qualifications. These include Certificates III in Automotive Electrical Technology, Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, and several others.
Expressions of interest for TAG membership close on 22 November 2024. Successful candidates will work with AUSMASA and other stakeholders to guide the development process, ensuring the training materials are practical and relevant to industry needs.
Commencing in October 2024, the project will run until November 2025. Its outcomes will contribute to Australia's broader adoption of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source by supporting safe integration within the automotive sector.
