NSW Budget delivers $5 million investment in regional hydrogen jobs
LAVO receives $5M in NSW Government Funding to develop Hydrogen manufacturing and jobs in the Hunter Region
The 2022-23 NSW Budget has delivered $5 million to expand the prototyping, testing and pilot manufacturing for the LAVO Hydrogen Energy Storage System at Tomago in the Hunter Region of NSW.
LAVO, an Australian hydrogen storage and technology company, welcomes the funding made through the New South Wales (NSW) Government through the Regional Job Creation Fund.
The $5 million funding was announced earlier this year.
The A$140 million Regional Job Creation Fund supports existing businesses in regional NSW to grow and encourages interstate or overseas businesses to invest in regional NSW.
Alan Yu, CEO and Executive Director of LAVO, said: “The NSW Government Regional Job Creation Fund provides LAVO with an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable employment opportunities in regional NSW while advancing our ambitions to scale our hydrogen energy storage solutions."
Pilot production with manufacturing partners Varley Group and Ampcontrol will fulfill the aims of the Fund by supporting local business development, securing sustainable employment opportunities in hydrogen and boosting export markets.
LAVO is working closely with Hunter Region-based Training Services NSW, Newcastle TAFE, The University of New South Wales and the University of Newcastle to ensure appropriate and tailored training is available for workers in the region, through the provision of opportunities for accredited courses in hydrogen technology and renewable energy.
These investments will ensure workers in the Hunter Region are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for the jobs of the future.
