NSW companies invited to hydrogen collaboration visit in Fukuoka, Japan
The NSW Government has extended an invitation for interested companies to join a hydrogen-focused visit to Fukuoka, Japan, with opportunities to meet local government officials, industry leaders, and visit key hydrogen project sites.
The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) is inviting companies to participate in a collaborative visit to Fukuoka, Japan, from 25 to 28 November 2024. The visit is part of a hydrogen collaboration agreement between the NSW Government and Fukuoka Prefecture, focusing on hydrogen technology and industry development.
Participants will have the chance to meet with Fukuoka’s Governor, government officials, and industry representatives, as well as tour various hydrogen-related projects. The Fukuoka Prefectural Government will cover the costs of chartered buses, interpretation services, and a dinner event, while participants are expected to cover other expenses such as flights, accommodation, meals, and travel insurance.
The schedule includes visits to key hydrogen sites such as the Hydrogen Energy Test and Research Center and Kyushu Electric Power Co.'s Hibiki Power Station. There will also be opportunities for NSW companies to showcase their own hydrogen technologies during networking events.
One of the highlights of the trip is the tour of Nippon Coke & Engineering Co., where participants will inspect areas being considered for hydrogen acceptance. There will also be a detailed introduction to the Hydrogen Green Growth Strategy of Fukuoka Prefecture, which includes projects in the Hibiki-nada waterfront area. The visit aims to strengthen international cooperation in hydrogen technology and explore new opportunities for industry growth.
Key dates during the visit include:
- 25 November 2024: Arrival in Fukuoka.
- 26 November 2024: Meetings with the Governor and Speaker of Fukuoka Prefecture, followed by visits to hydrogen project sites, including Nippon Coke & Engineering Co..
- 27 November 2024: Site tours of hydrogen testing facilities and networking events with Fukuoka-based companies.
- 28 November 2024: Visits to hydrogen stations and Kyushu University for a test ride in a fuel cell bus.
