NSW's first hydrogen hub in Hunter region
The Hunter region will become home to one of NSW's first green hydrogen hubs
The Hunter Valley hydrogen hub will create infrastructure for the local production, use and distribution of hydrogen and will drive new low carbon jobs and help to set up the region for the future. Developing green hydrogen hubs will align with planned NSW Renewable Energy Zones under the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap to ensure thriving business precincts.
The hub is supported by a $464 million federal program that provides grants of up to $3 million for project consortia to progress feasibility and design work, and up to $70 million to help with the roll-out of projects. NSW Government has also committed $70 million to development of hydrogen hubs in the Hunter and Illawarra.
